The Mission:
Light on Ayurveda Educational Foundation, Inc., (LOAEF) is formed to disseminate information about the science, practice and philosophy of the Ayurvedic health care system, to provide the Ayurvedic community with a means of communication and networking, to foster Ayurvedic education, and to promote research of Ayurvedic practice.

LOAEF's quarterly publication, Light on Ayurveda: Journal of Health (LOAJ), is geared for all levels of interest, from beginning students to experienced practitioners.

LOAJ.com offers the Ayurvedic enthusiast and the general public access to Ayurvedic articles, a directory of practitioners, a searchable calendar of events, and a listing of Ayurvedic schools.

Brochures and educational pamphlets will be made available to educate the general public and the clientele of Ayurvedic practitioners.

Future goal: establishment of a scholarship for Ayurvedic studies.

Robert R. Ryder, DMD
Dr. Ryder, president of LOAEF, is a retired orthodontist and an accomplished artist who has supported the Light on Ayurveda Journal since it inception in 2002. He brings his strong background in Western science and medicine to the board as well as his business and organizational acumen.

Genevieve A. Ryder, has been publishing in the field of Ayurveda for over 10 years: first the newsletter, Ayurveda Update for graduates of New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine, then the American Ayurvedic Journal for AAA. She brings her background and experience to this independent journal, dedicated to bring quality articles and information to all levels of interest and expertise. Light on Ayurveda: Journal of Health, began publication in Fall, 2002 and celebrated its fifth anniversary in Fall, 2007.
Board Members
William E. Celentano, DO, Dr. Celentano is an Osteopathic physician, Board Certified in Family Medicine, presently working as a staff physician in Las Vegas, Nevada with the University Medical Center outpatient clinic. He is the Director of the Las Vegas Institute of Ayurveda, founded with the mission of strengthening a bridge of understanding between traditional Western and Ayurvedic healthcare. The vision of LVIA includes developing Las Vegas as a "Beacon of Light" in Ayurvedic education and healthcare. Hilary Garivaltis, is Dean of the Kripalu School of Ayurveda at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Stockbridge, MA. She received her training at the New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine with advanced training from the Rishikesh College of Ayurveda and the Jiva Institute in India. She continues to train with the world’s leading teachers in the United States and in India.
Hilary has served on the National Ayurvedic Medical Association Board and continues to be an advocate and supporter of Ayurvedic medicine in the United States. Hilary works closely with institutes in India and maintains connections with the rich heritage of India and the vedic traditions while advancing her own education in yoga and Ayurveda. Dr. Jay Glaser, is board certified in internal medicine and works as a hospitalist at the UMass HealthAlliance Hospital in Leominster, MA. He is medical director of the Lancaster Ayurveda Medical Center since 1988, promoting Ayurveda through his courses, workshops and publishing. After earning his MD degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, he served his internal medicine residency and fellowship at McGill University's Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. Dr. Glaser has published many scientific articles on the physiological effects of Ayurveda and Transcendental Meditation.

Alakananda Devi, MB, BS, is a British trained physician who travelled to India in 1980 where she met her teacher, Dr. Vasant Lad, and was among the first Western physicians to study Ayurveda. She is principal of Alandi School of Ayurveda, a traditional gurukula, in Colorado, and is known for her insightful Ayurvedic articles. She offers a post-graduate gurukulam for Ayurvedic studies at Alandi Ashram in Boulder, CO.

Doreen Paradeis is a clinical practitioner of Ayurveda in Orlando, FL, where she is completing her studies for a Master's degree in Ayurveda.
Peter Wallace
Peter Wallace bring his expertise in finance to the board. He is on the faculty of Stonehill College in Easton, MA.
Dr. Martina Ziska, M.D., D.Ay, is a full time Ayurvedic practitioner. She has been editor and publisher of the journal for the Lyme Disease Foundation. She has been Managing Editor of Light on Ayurveda Journal since 2004. Dr. Ziska trained with Drs. Chopra, Raju, and Nader and practiced Maharishi Ayurveda in Europe. Her medical training is with a neurology specialty and her PhD is in neurophysiology from the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. Shas has been on the faculty of Academy of Ayurvedic Studies in the Netherlands.She has recently returned to The Czech Republic and has a full-time practice including panchakarma in Prague. She is developing Ayurveda Terra, a center in nature where Ayurvedic and ecological principles are intertwined and realized. Email.
