Light on Ayurveda Journal (LOAJ) was founded as a a peer-reviewed quarterly professional publication in 2002. It was dedicated to practitioners and students of Ayurveda and focused on clinical aspects of Ayurveda. In two years, a small group of interested people, including Dr. Martina Ziska and Dr. Jay Glaser, met to discuss the journal's direction and the financing that would be necessary to sustain its continued publication. From this meeting, a non-profit organization, Light on Ayurveda Educational Foundation (LOAEF), was created with the following mission:
LOAEF is formed to disseminate information about the science, practice and philosophy of the Ayurvedic health care system; to provide the Ayurvedic community with a means of communication and networking; to assist all people with the incorporation of Vedic philosophy and science into their own culture and lifestyle; to foster and support Ayurvedic education; and to promote research of Ayurvedic science.
LOAJ has continued this publication, working continually to meet the needs of its subscribers. LOAEF has provided its invaluable guidance and assistance through the years as subscribers became LOAEF members, thus enabling LOAEF to work on its mission. In 2008, LOAEF established a scholarship fund in memory of Betheyla Anuradha. That scholarship was presented in October, 2009.
We are so pleased to have the Center for Indic Studies at UMass Dartmouth take over the publication of LOAJ. We see this as a positive step providing unlimited growth potential in and academic environment. |
